Private account of M. E. C. Lloyd, 1747-1761.

Manuscript, in a single hand, of about 100 pages of accounts of bills paid or contracted by "Miss Lloyd" and money she received from her relatives for her estates and from her South Sea stocks and house. Many of the bills pertain to personal grooming, such as "Quilting a petticoat"; "to hair cutting"; "to the steell to clean my teeth"; and "a girdle for me." Numerous items pertain to household affairs, including entries for wages to her servants and to her "Aunt Lloyd for the House & board." Other entries record travel expenses; tickets to plays and operas; and amounts paid "to the man that came from London to do my harpsicord"; "to two poor women"; and "lost at Cards." In several entries she mentions a Mr. Clayton or a Miss R. Clayton which suggests that she may have been a relative of or a member of the household of Sir William Clayton.
